Iserlohn is situated in North Rhine-Westphalia at the northern border of the Sauerland in a densely wooded, beautiful natural setting within the administrative district of Arnsberg. It has 100,000 inhabitants and is the biggest town of the Märkischer Kreis. Iserlohn has good transport links to the adjoining Ruhr district, is headquarter of the Fachhochschule Südwestfalen (University of Applied Sience), regional center of commerce and industry and an ice hockey stronghold.
